How do I set up a new user account?
It's easy!
- Click the "Not a member yet? Click here to register" link on the right-hand side of the GFA home page.
- You will be sent to a form where you will be asked to:
- Create a user name (your new account name)
- Create a password
- Confirm the password
- Type in the authentication code (type in the 5-character code just above the authentication code field
- Add your GFA member number (if you are a GFA member) in the GFA Member Number field.
- The GFA webmaster will review this information and approve your application, usually the same day.
- When your user account is approved, you will have access to the Discussion Forum area. If you are a GFA member, you will also be granted access to the complete collection of GFA newsletters in the Downloads area.
As always, if you have any problems, require assistance with setting up your account, or anything else related to this site, please contact the GFA webmaster who will be happy to assist.
Why do I need to set up a user account?
- Because of a number of not-so-nice people out on the internet who want to disrupt and cause problems, we are asking individuals who want to use our discussion forum to register. If they misbehave, their access will be removed.
- Access to the collection of GFA newsletters and the linked genealogy, as a membership benefit, is limited to GFA members only, so it will be necessary to register, including providing their GFA member number, to be given access to this premium content area.
We will never share your email account information with anyone outside the GFA.
