2002 GFA Reunion Agenda – Open Discussion
From: Larry Grinnell, Acting President
To: GFA Board Members
Here is the proposed agenda:
Meeting place and time: TBD by Marj Murray
Committee Reports:
- Newsletter
- Genealogical
- Treasurer
- Membership
Old Business:
- Book Sales
- Book Donations
- Enough money exists in treasury for board members to identify more than one library each for donations (perhaps unlimited)
- Other issues
- Genealogy Committee Issues
- Purchase multiple memberships in Ancestry.com
- 7-Generation research
- Officially appoint Chuck Ketchum as Genealogical Committee Chair
- Thanks to Chuck for getting Ark. Jim Grinnell’s files. Thanks, too, for massive updates and corrections to database.
- Other issues
- We might even want to revisit the United Kingdom research. Over the last few years, more records have been unearthed from all over Britain (many on CD-ROM). I forwarded an e-mail address to Chuck Ketchum of an Essex County researcher. I think it might be worthwhile to offer somewhere between $250 and $500 to get some work done over there.
- Newsletter/Genealogy on CD project
- Preview of nearly-finished project
- Web Site
- Renewed domain (grinnellfamily.org) for $70.00 with register.com
- New genealogy posted in June (with apologies for taking so long to post info provided in April)
- Comments on web-based membership database?
- Added access for Marj.
- Had some instabilities that are hopefully resolved. Eventually want to move website to a hosted site. Cost probably $25-50/mo.
- Other comments
- What do we do with Elizabeth Bartelds? Will someone take over the efforts to continue prosecution?
- Constitution/Bylaws revisions
- Bruce presented some suggested changes at Seekonk but nothing done yet.
New Business
Nomination of officers for 2002-2003
- Future of GFA
- More Internet oriented?
- How to attract new leadership?
- Fewer reunions?
- What to do as many current officers want out?
Reunions:
- 2003 Barrie Ontario?
- 2004 Cruise?
- 2005 Seekonk
