| 2007 GFA Board of Directors Meeting Proposed Agenda |
I suggest we begin our voting on issues, reports, etc. after July 4th. To this end, we will need the following to be sent online to all addressees above at your earliest convenience.
(a) Minutes of 2007 on-line meeting. (Larry)
(b) Treasurer's Report through 6/30/08 (Chuck)
(c) Membership Report (Hugh)
(d) Newsletter Report (Alice and Larry)
> We have had a lot of on-line discussion about this. Feedback so far indicates that the Chuck-produced newsletter looks great. Inexpensive and "easy" publishing programs have evolved to compete with and look like more expensive programs. However, our real issues include
(1) Can we still have an editor (Alice) and a production person (Larry or someone else) and keep on our March 31/Sept 30 schedule?
(2) Can Alice both edit and publish using a simpler program?
(3) Do we outsource the newsletter? ($$$$$$)
We really need some resolution about this in July.
(e) Genealogy publication date (Chuck and Larry)
(f) New Treasurer. I had asked David (I think) to become Treasurer after we received Chuck's notice of resignation after the book is published.
(g) President's Item: I want to instigate a Nominating Committee every 5 years, beginning the year before our 5-year reunion in Rhode Island. I believe the President term of office should be 5 years and should begin with the 5-year reunion where real bodies are present at our meeting. The Nominating Committee would be nominated by the President and would be comprised of two or three (no more) current Board members. This item is subject to discussion and vote by the Board.
The idea of a conference call using Skype is not going to work. Skype limits the number of people on a call. Email voting will work as long as everyone sends to all of us the above-requested items at your earliest convenience. I'll kick off the committee motions after the 4th of July and will introduce the newsletter and President term discussions after we have a quorum voting on the committee reports.
